Gut Makeover Cherry and Kefir Shake

Smoothie_Cherry.jpg

Black cherries are rich in polyphenols to feed the good bacteria in the gut. Kefir plants billions of good bacteria in the gut, too. Ginger and chia or flax have anti-inflammatory properties. I recently found these black cherries available year round frozen in British supermarkets. Frozen ones retain their polyphenols, fibre and taste and are cheaper than fresh flown in ones.

250ml kefir
Half a cup of black cherries

2cm fresh ginger, peeled

1 tbsp chia or flaxseeds

Add all the ingredients to a blender and pulse until smooth.

Drink immediately, before the ingredients separate.

Follow by drinking a large glass of water to help the digestion of the chia seeds.
